The much-anticipated 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was grandly held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from November 5 to 10. As the world’s first national-level import-themed expo, CIIE plays a vital role in continuously boosting trade and business exchanges between China and regions across the globe.
Since its debut in 2018, the CIIE has kept improving and continued to fulfill four major functions: international procurement, investment promotion, people-to-people exchanges and open cooperation. It has grown into a new platform for China’s opening-up. The scale of this edition has expanded once again. Its total exhibition area exceeded 440,000 square meters for the first time. A total of 162 countries, regions and international organizations took part, and more than 4,100 overseas enterprises gathered at the venue to explore business opportunities together.
Its six major exhibition zones cover a wide range of sectors including automobiles and smart mobility, medical equipment and healthcare, technical equipment, consumer goods, and agricultural and food products. A host of new products, technologies and services are on display one after another. Among them, over 200 exhibits make their global debut, spanning high-end equipment, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, green and low-carbon sectors and more.
Supporting events are also abundant. More than 100 thematic conferences and industrial seminars are underway in an orderly manner. Centered on hot topics such as global economic and trade cooperation, green transition and the digital economy, these events build a bridge for dialogue and cooperation between government and business entities from all countries. The Expo continues to offer free booths to least developed countries, helping developing countries boost their trade continuously.
